Before scoring the perfect low-price flight deals, the passengers must know about which airline charge for extra baggage. They have to know how much they cost you to check a bag with your airline of choice.

Most airlines charge to check their baggage but some are not. Unfortunately, only a couple US-based airlines will let you check a bag without dishing out extra cash.

The airlines listed below are the US-based domestic and international flights. International flights often have even higher fees. So, check your specific airline baggage fees to make your next travel more pleasant.

NO BAGGAGE FEE AIRLINES

There are only 2 airlines which permit their passengers to check bags for free. And these airlines are Cape Air and Southwest Airlines.

  • Cape Air

It offers free carry-on, gate checked and checked bags on Cessna 402C aircraft for domestic flights excluding trips to the Caribbean. If the maximum weight of checked is more than 50 pounds, then the charges will apply. Passengers can also check for a second or third bag but same the charges may apply for each, regardless of weight.

  • Southwest Airlines

It has an even better deal on checking bags. Each customer can check 2 bags for free. But, weights of each bag should not be more than 50 pounds and dimensions do not exceed 62 inches. If a bag is oversized or its weight is lies between 51 to 100 pounds and dimensions are ranging between 62 and 80 inches, then charges apply for each bag.

Maybe Cape Air and Southwest Airlines do not charge for checked baggage, but that doesn’t mean these airlines have the best deals always because all this depend on the ticket prices. Here’s what it cost you to check a bag on flights from the following carriers.

  • Alaska Airlines

The baggage fee for first and second checked bag is same. The weight of your bag must be 50 pounds or less. And size must not exceed from 62 inches in width, height, and length. But if you have to charge an extra fee for each if you have third and additional bags or oversized bag.  The airline may charge you more for additional baggage.

  • American Airlines

If you are traveling with the American airline, then baggage fees depend on where you are going and whether you participate in a loyalty program with the airline. If you are not part of a loyalty program and traveling domestically, then you can expect to pay for your first checked bag. But on every additional bag, the fee will vary or may the airline charge you more from the last one.

In domestic travel, passengers can carry the free carry on and personal items but if the weight of your bag is more than 50 pound, then you may have to pay extra for each bag. Those passengers who are flying in the economy within Canada or the United States on Delta must pay to check their every bag.

  • Frontier Airlines

You have to pay for your bag if you are flying in economy class with Frontier airline. The airline charge extra for each checked baggage and fee also vary.

  • Hawaiian Airlines

The domestic flights with Hawaiian Airlines pay a fee for customers flying in the economy to check their first bag. But fee on second checked baggage is different. If you are flying outside of the United States or in First Class, then you can check 2 bags for free.

  • JetBlue Airways

Pricing for checked bags varies depending on whether you participate in a loyalty program. But, maximum of the passengers have to pay for checked baggage. The fee varies with the additional bags. On each additional bag, the fee will change.

  • Porter

You have to pay for checked baggage if you are flying with Porter airlines. The fee will change for each additional bag.

  • Silver Airways

Booking a flight and checked baggage space online through Silver Airways, you would pay to check your bag on domestic or international flights. For The price rises as long as the number of the bag is increased for domestic and international flights. But, if you book a checked bag by calling reservations the day before your flight, then the actual cost will be high. So, visiting the tickets counter on the day of departure or check your bag at the gate.

  • Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines charges for both carry-on and checked baggage. The only freebie is your personal item. Prices vary depending on your specific flight, but typical costs for a domestic flight would be different for a carry-on and a checked bag. The cost will be same from the second checked baggage to fifth checked baggage. If any of your checked baggage is overweight, then you have to pay additional fees.

If you are flying economy on United within Canada or the United States, then you can expect to pay for check your bag. On each additional bag, the price rises. Keep in mind that your bags can weigh a maximum of 50 pounds and their length, width, and height must not exceed a total of 62 inches.
