Bangalore International Airport
About Bangalore Airport
(BRL) As the country’s first greenfield airport, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) was built using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Following this, more airports in India were privatized, ushering in a revolution in aviation. The Companies Act of 1956 allowed Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to be established in January 2001 to develop, own,
and run BLR Airport for a 60-year concession. In the year ending in March 2023, the airport handled 31.91 million passengers (28.12 million domestic and 3.78 million international).
It is the busiest airport in South India and the third-largest airport nationwide. The airport is 40 kilometers outside of Bengaluru, India, in Devanahalli.
It took the place of the former HAL Bangalore International Airport. It covers an area of 4,000 acres.
