American Airlines Inaugurates five new gates at Chicago O’Hare

post

Five new gates will now allow American Airlines to fly more passengers from the Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport than it has in a decade.

A ribbon was cut on the $78-million expansion of Concourse last month by officials at O’Hare’s Terminal 3, American’s Chicago hub.

First to be added in 25 years are the new “L Stinger” gates, L20 through L24, at the airport.

Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Ginger Evans said: “The L-Stinger gates deliver immediate benefits for passengers flying through O’Hare with more space to relax, fewer delays and expanded services”.

“In the coming years, this project also sets the stage for even more improvements to come as we expand O’Hare’s terminal capacity.”

An $8.5-billion for expansion and modernization projects has been approved by the city of Chicago recently at O’Hare that will be adding more terminals and gates, which will double the overall size of the airport.

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker said: “We’re renewing our commitment with these new gates to serving our customers in Chicago and growing our service at O’Hare”.

A New Flagship Lounge was recently added at the terminal by AA and renovated its O’Hare Admirals Club lounges, and later this year will be opening a new hangar and ground equipment maintenance facility.
