MUMBAI AIRPORT INFORMATION
About Mumbai International Airport
(BOM) Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, formerly known as Sahar International Airport, is the primary international airport serving the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, India. After Delhi,
it is the second busiest airport in the nation for both total and foreign passenger traffic. With three operational terminals spanning 750 hectares (1850 acres) of land, the airport accommodates roughly 950 aircraft movements daily.
Airport collaborative decision-making (A-CDM) has taken effect at one of the three airports in India to guarantee timely takeoffs and landings.
GVK Industries Ltd. and the Airports Authority of India have partnered to operate Mumbai International Airport as MIAL. After renovations, international flights began using Terminal 2 of the airport in 2014. For easier access, a new road was also constructed to connect the terminal to the main highway.
Sahar Airport became Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in 1999 in remembrance of a former monarch. Bombay, the previous name for Mumbai, is where its IATA code, “BOM,” originates. Situated between Sahar village and the Santacruz suburbs, the airport lies in Vile Parle East.
