Chennai International Airport, formerly known as Madras International Meenambakkam Airport, is located in Tirusulam, about 21 km from the city center. As the 6th busiest airport in India, it serves as a major hub for the metropolitan area and beyond.
The Kamraj Domestic Terminal covers an area of 13,000 square meters and is equipped with 4 security kiosks and 18 check-in counters. The Anna International Terminal, renowned for being the third busiest in India in terms of international passenger traffic, spans 157,000 square meters.
It is well-fitted with 4 security kiosks, 19 check-in counters, 22 immigration checkpoints, and 30 customs counters To accommodate the increasing demand and improve services, Chennai International Airport is currently expanding.
Two new terminals, T2 and a satellite terminal, are under construction to handle 40 million passengers annually.
